His inventive approach fuses traditional eastern artistic techniques and imagery with western Pop Art references to create an original style that seeks to establish balance and harmony between cultural extremes. Tsai originally came into the limelight in 2008 when he created the now iconic floral skull emblem for British fashion designer Alexander McQueen whilst studying for his Masters at Central St. Martins, London. Since then Tsai has used the floral skull in many of his artworks, seeing the image as the best example of his vision: to dispel attitudes of fear and superstition prevalent in his native China and instead encourage the emergence of beauty in decay. The floral skull has since become synonymous with the artist and his work. His inventive approach fuses traditional eastern artistic techniques and imagery with western Pop Art references to create an original style that seeks to establish balance and harmony between cultural extremes. Tsai originally came into the limelight in 2008 when he created the now iconic floral skull emblem for British fashion designer Alexander McQueen whilst studying for his Masters at Central St. Martins, London. Since then Tsai has used the floral skull in many of his artworks, seeing the image as the best example of his vision: to dispel attitudes of fear and superstition prevalent in his native China and instead encourage the emergence of beauty in decay. The floral skull has since become synonymous with the artist and his work. About Stephen Wong

Born in 1986, Stephen Wong Chun Hei is a Hong Kong based artist. He graduated from the Fine Art Department (CUHK) in 2008. His recent solo exhibitions include Stephen Wong Chun Hei: Maclehose Trail, Bonhams, Hong Kong (2022), Indoor Hundred Islands, Touch Gallery, Hong Kong (2021) and A Grand Tour in Google Earth, Gallery EXIT, Hong Kong (2021). In 2021, Wong showcased his work on Unit London’s online viewing room, Platform. The artist is scheduled to have his debut London solo exhibition, Dream Travel, at the gallery in 2022. Wong’s paintings are collected by private collectors and institutions, such as Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Land and Swire.

His inventive approach fuses traditional eastern artistic techniques and imagery with western Pop Art references to create an original style that seeks to establish balance and harmony between cultural extremes. Tsai originally came into the limelight in 2008 when he created the now iconic floral skull emblem for British fashion designer Alexander McQueen whilst studying for his Masters at Central St. Martins, London. Since then Tsai has used the floral skull in many of his artworks, seeing the image as the best example of his vision: to dispel attitudes of fear and superstition prevalent in his native China and instead encourage the emergence of beauty in decay.
